Sculptor to speak at Science Café

“I am a life long student of the sciences, and they inform my work as an artist,” said Sywalski. “It’s my hope that my work inspires a deeper appreciation of the natural world through scientific investigation and sculptural expression.”

Sywalski studied sculpture, jewelry and painting at Nazareth College in Rochester, N.Y. He has worked in the studios of two of North America’s notable sculptors, Don Meserve and Albert Paley. He now carves his own sculptural work at his studio in Cherryfield.

Science cafés offer a relaxed, informal way to learn about science and its connection to our lives. At each café, a short presentation is followed by questions, discussion and debate. Refreshments are available, and there is no admission charge.

The MDI Science Cafés are a program of the MDI Biological Laboratory and are sponsored by Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, Cross Insurance and McKay’s Public House.
